Through a single app, the Bicycle Health Medical Group provides comprehensive treatment for opioid use disorder, including Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD), behavioral healthcare, drug screening, pharmacy support services and financial support. Our Telehealth treatment program has served over 30,000 patients across 32 states. Our regional structure ensures our teams understand the local environments of the patients they serve.

The Regional Medical Director is a physician leader with direct patient care, team performance management, and business management responsibilities. The Regional Medical Director has a strong ownership mentality with regard to all clinical operations in the assigned region and is responsible for ensuring consistent, cost-effective service delivery that balances the expectations of patients, providers, our broader support team, and business partners including commercial and governmental payors. The Regional Medical Director is responsible for ensuring that all medical services in the region meet or exceed all internal and external standards of care and compliance requirements. The Regional Medical Director is responsible for the financial stewardship of our operations in the region through developing and meeting appropriate goals for resource utilization and revenue generation.

Target Pay Range: $220,000-$230,000 + Bonus Eligible + Equity Opportunity - Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

You can expect to:

• All duties of a Physician.
• Directly manage assigned Physician and Advanced Practice Clinician reports. Management responsibility includes onboarding, reviewing documentation and performance data and providing feedback as needed, soliciting feedback and addressing identified needs to improve performance, conducting formal performance reviews, and developing and implementing performance improvement plans as may be necessary.
• Directly manage clinical team leaders within the region. Management responsibilities are the same as above, and additionally ensuring that team leaders provide appropriate management, support, and evaluation to their individual reports.
• Develop and maintain strong understanding of all practice compliance requirements for each state within the assigned region. Be the definitive state compliance expert within the organization.
• Ensure that all clinicians practicing in the assigned region are providing care that meets all relevant standards of best practice, adheres to policies and procedures, and delivers patient outcomes that meet or exceed accepted standards.
• Utilize analytics tools to inform and continually optimize performance and quality improvement efforts.
• Partner effectively with cross-functional teams including Operations, People Operations, Product/Engineering, Marketing, and Commercialization toward fulfillment of all responsibilities of the position.
• Partner with the Chief Medical Officer and other Regional Medical Directors to develop and implement national organizational policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
• Be the face of our organization for providers within your region: continually ensure the effective flow of information to and from our provider teams, and maintain strong rapport, credibility, and responsiveness. Maintain alignment with our organizational mission, vision, and values.
• Develop and maintain external relationships that further our organizational goals
• Provide clinical consultation, guidance and direction to the regional clinical team by monitoring regional chat support channels and responding to messages and phone calls from supervised clinical staff.
• Partner with the Operations team to develop and meet provider utilization and recruiting goals for the region.
• Manage the hiring and training of new providers in the assigned region.
• Identify needed resources and support for the assigned region, prioritize these needs based on available resources and all stakeholder interests, and develop and implement plans to address these needs as prioritized.
• Collaborate with the research team to facilitate clinical research activities in the region for academic publication. The opportunity for the Regional Medical Director to participate in or lead study design and authorship is available.
• Oversee provider on-call availability, and provide back-up call coverage when the on-call provider may not meet obligations.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualities we're looking for:

• ACGME accredited board certification in any primary medical specialty.
• ABPM or AOA Board Certified in Addiction Medicine, or ABPN Board Certified in Addiction Psychiatry preferred; eligible to obtain such certification within 1 year of starting required
• Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine & DEA registration in the state where your home office is located. Eligible to obtain licensure and DEA registration in all states within the assigned region within 120 days of starting.
• Minimum 1 year of experience managing managers, and strong motivation to further develop this skill
• Minimum 3 years of experience managing physicians and advanced practice clinicians including fulfilling formal collaboration/supervision duties with APCs
• Experience in quality improvement driving change management in a clinical setting; examples include synthesizing literature, designing clinical protocols, managing stakeholders, designing measures, data collection and evaluation.
• Experience in medical practice financial stewardship including responsibility for provider utilization and billing practices.
• Outstanding communication skills including written and verbal communication toward various audiences including patients, clinical teams, the general public, and external stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a cross-functional environment focused on company-level goals.
• Project leadership and management skills.
• A mindset to choose progress over perfection and get things done.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Consistent access to a private work environment with high speed internet and professionally appropriate surroundings for frequent video conferencing.
